I agree on the comment about frequency of posting.

What do you think? ;-)

Thank You

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Against my better judgment, I went ahead and checked my feed stats today.

*gasp*

One is advised to check on one’s blog stats at the end of the month, so that you know, one does not live on stats alone. But I’m a woman. And a Mom. We’re always itching with curiosity. Or at least our fingers are when it comes to our blogs.

So I did the ill-advised and checked.

Well what do you know. There was a jump on my feed stats! (Or it could be a resolution of feedburner’s technical glitch, but stick with me here.)

Yay!

I shall not reveal my base count and subsequent to that, my jump count, for the very real fear of stat sickness that catches on as a result of the discovery. I suffer severe side effects from it.

But I will THANK ALL OF YOU for subscribing to my feed.  I am truly grateful.

It’s not the end of the month yet, so I won’t be checking on my Analytics to see if that post I made about RSS in Plain English had anything to do with the jump.

Still. If you haven’t already read that post, it really is a wonderful discovery!

Here it is again and once more Thank You, THANK You, THANK YOU.

What I Learned This Week

Friday, April 24th, 2009

After an activity filled Easter and post-Easter, this week’s lessons fell mostly around Problogger’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge.

I learned that in the world of ‘pro’ blogging, I am what is called the Toddler Blogger.

Despite the fact that I started blogging in 2004, the world of ‘pro’ blogging is a million miles away from just updating friends and family about the latest happenings of our home. I have SO MUCH more to learn from it all.

In the course of learning however, I ‘met’ many stay-at-home Mommies like myself who are making waves out there, and I have enjoyed every single one of their blogs. (Like the owner of THIS blog Carnival. ;-) ) They have been helpful, informative, endearing and at the very least, ‘takes me out’ of the four walls of my home and the loads of laundry for a while. And all the talk of laundry among Blogger Mommies this week make me want to revamp MY laundry corner!

Blogging for a stay-at-home Mommy like me connects me to the world wide web. That, is a vast ocean of resource, information and connection.

It’s no wonder then that Mommy Blogs Are The Blogs To Watch this season. I hope mine will count among them sometime.

So, go ahead, connect with Musings to see what She’s learned this week. ;-)

Change

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Alrighty then.

As I mentioned recently, I’m bringing some changes to this blog. The main one being positioning of the blog’s layout so that my posts takes centre stage.  And to do this, I’ve opted instead for the two column layout in place of the three column layout that I had previously.

Then there’s my blog’s tagline. Writing that Elevator Pitch really stretched my thinking cap to the seams as I began answering the question ‘what is your blog about?’ Mind you, being the slow learner that I am, I took two whole days to mull over just this task alone! (Hence the length in between blog posts while I was going through that process!)

Finally I came up with this.

A Woman’s Weekly is the tale of one Mom raising three Kids on two hands and a foot, while contending with mountains of dishwashing. Powered by coffee, she writes about everything from parenting to personal style, and often about her faith. Inspired by the cakes she bakes, she’s crossing her fingers to someday write about going from SAHM to WAHM.

Out of that pitch is the tagline you now see above.

Finally, I’m putting some work in for the header image.

Ok. Now the real work of putting up posts that will encourage you, inspire you and just bless you, needs to continue.

I hope you like the change. Tell me what you think in the comments! ;-)

Among Other Things…

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

No, I hadn’t abandoned this blog. And I know that is subject to all sorts of debate among bloggers and non-bloggers alike, but no, I hadn’t abandoned this blog.

I had meant to post about a weekend of sinful indulgence on Monday but in the  process of updating my plugins, I bonkered this site. And because I was in the midst of baking a cake, some cupcakes AND revising with the Kids, it was only late afternoon that I was able to rectify the situation. By nightfall, I hadn’t the physical nor mental energy to blog!

And then there was more revision with the Kids, the Church’s Easter event and the potential of having the Bff move to my neighbourhood. That last one being a highlight. Woot!

But I’m baacck.

Revision is over and tomorrow is the Good Friday public holiday. Yay! I’ve let all hair loose for the Kids this whole afternoon, on the condition that they LET ME BET BACK TO MY BLOG.

So here I am, Kids creating havoc around the house (I’m kidding!) while I happily tinker away at my computer.

So what’s in it for all of you with all of this you say?

Well, I’ve signed up for the 31 Days To Build A Better Blog challenge. You know, to learn how to make your visits here worthwhile.

The first task was a good one. We were challenged to write an Elevator Pitch for our blogs. I had to sweat my brain trying to think of my Elevator Pitch. I wish I could tell you that I came up with a fantastic one. Alas, (thanks to my indiscipline and inefficiency at managing my time!) I have yet to come up with something better than “A Woman’s Weekly is one Mom’s attempt at juggling three kids, her blog and the laundry.”

Can you tell I have a loonnng way to go?

Nonetheless, as with all learning, expect to see some gradual Changes to my blog, one of which will likely be a change to this blog’s template. I had one person tell me recently that my blog had “lots of things going on over there, it’s hard to focus on your post!” Ouch. Ok. Comment heard, hence the motivation to make this place a pleasant, friendly and inviting place to visit.

Wish me luck!

Actually, I also wanted to show you the sinful indulgence that I had made that I was talking about earlier. But somehow it wouldn’t upload to my post. Anybody knows what an HTTP error is?! I’ve given up trying. So maybe next time.

And as for American Idol, aww mann…! I’m gonna miss Scott.

Y’all have a good week ahead, what’s left of it.

And Have a blessed Easter Celebration Friends. He is risen!

Because I Have An Exciting Weekend Planned

Friday, March 27th, 2009

I’ll be ‘away’ this weekend.

That is, away from this blog. We’re spending the weekend at my Mom’s house. Big Sis and her best friends will be having a rockin’ Hannah Montana birthday party over there. We live too far away from all her close friends, hence we decided to host it at their Nana’s. I’ve been baking furiously since morning, tweaking and improvising as I realised midway through my baking extravaganza, I was short on essential supplies! It’s just one of those things yaknow…

I might blog about the cake I’ve baked for Big Sis. Depends on how good it finally looks  and how tasty people find it. Stay tuned if you care to. ;-)

And then there’s that widely talked about Earth Hour happening at 8:30pm tomorrow night. Yes, it is my Mom’s place that we’ll be switching off the lights at. Hehe…

There is no internet connection at the Kids’ Nana’s. So, I will ’see’ all of you again when I get back from there.

By the way, heard from the grapevine, Michael goes home tonight.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Having a Kit Kat

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

The Children are on their mid semester break and have been spending time with J & M swimming and other ‘adventurous’ things Little People do.

For their Mommies, it’s an extended Mommy Munyit Time.

Tomorrow The Family is going on a road trip.

Be right back.

B(y)t(he)w(ay)…

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

See, I had to do that because my Mom said to me recently, “apa bah ni BTW?” (”what on earth is BTW??”) to a text message on her cellphone. I’m sure all you faithful readers already knew that. But just in case…

Did you notice the cute little ‘handwritten’ signature on my recent posts? Adds a nice little personal touch ya?

Go get One. It’s quite simple. Just follow the instructions.

Have fun!
