Therefore even though I’m sad to see Danny go, I’m not hugely disappointed. And while I admire Adam’s consistency and stage presence throughout the season, I won’t mind if Kris takes that trophy home next week. Either way, I’m looking forward to the finals. Not as much as I would if Danny were in it, but the way I see it, the Final Four this year were all deserving, and any one of them could have been the next American Idol.

Yea. I won’t mind if Kris goes home with the trophy.

No, I hadn’t abandoned this blog. And I know that is subject to all sorts of debate among bloggers and non-bloggers alike, but no, I hadn’t abandoned this blog.

I had meant to post about a weekend of sinful indulgence on Monday but in the process of updating my plugins, I bonkered this site. And because I was in the midst of baking a cake, some cupcakes AND revising with the Kids, it was only late afternoon that I was able to rectify the situation. By nightfall, I hadn’t the physical nor mental energy to blog!

And then there was more revision with the Kids, the Church’s Easter event and the potential of having the Bff move to my neighbourhood. That last one being a highlight. Woot!

But I’m baacck.

Revision is over and tomorrow is the Good Friday public holiday. Yay! I’ve let all hair loose for the Kids this whole afternoon, on the condition that they LET ME BET BACK TO MY BLOG.

So here I am, Kids creating havoc around the house (I’m kidding!) while I happily tinker away at my computer.

So what’s in it for all of you with all of this you say?

Well, I’ve signed up for the 31 Days To Build A Better Blog challenge. You know, to learn how to make your visits here worthwhile.

The first task was a good one. We were challenged to write an Elevator Pitch for our blogs. I had to sweat my brain trying to think of my Elevator Pitch. I wish I could tell you that I came up with a fantastic one. Alas, (thanks to my indiscipline and inefficiency at managing my time!) I have yet to come up with something better than “A Woman’s Weekly is one Mom’s attempt at juggling three kids, her blog and the laundry.”

Can you tell I have a loonnng way to go?

Nonetheless, as with all learning, expect to see some gradual Changes to my blog, one of which will likely be a change to this blog’s template. I had one person tell me recently that my blog had “lots of things going on over there, it’s hard to focus on your post!” Ouch. Ok. Comment heard, hence the motivation to make this place a pleasant, friendly and inviting place to visit.

Wish me luck!

Actually, I also wanted to show you the sinful indulgence that I had made that I was talking about earlier. But somehow it wouldn’t upload to my post. Anybody knows what an HTTP error is?! I’ve given up trying. So maybe next time.

And as for American Idol, aww mann…! I’m gonna miss Scott.

Y’all have a good week ahead, what’s left of it.

And Have a blessed Easter Celebration Friends. He is risen!

Well, over here it’s 1April when the show aired. So was the April fool’s worm a hoax or what??

Anyhoo. At this stage of the competition, my expectations on the Idols goes up a notch because by now you can really see those that are outstanding and memorable, both in a good way and in a bad way.

So, here we go. (Seacrest style.)

Anoop – Oh Anoop. He seems like a nice guy, one you don’t mind to have as your neighbour down the street. But for American Idol, err…

Megan – Come on Dear. At this point you gotta up your game. Else you’ll prove Kara right about being in trouble.

Danny – You the Man Danny Bro! You know why he’s so good Kara? He did it all the time back at Church.

Allison – So Randy is not impressed with her outfit. What’s the big deal. She’s a teenager finding her path lah. Her vocals is what I’m looking to, but her being young, she’s in for tough competition.

Scott – There you go. Beautiful! Well done! Come on America, keep him coming.

Matt – I thought he was good. I saw what he had wanted to show to people, which he said was hopefully a little versatility. The judges have a different opinion though. Ok.

Lil – Aww. Don’t you just love the Little One giving Randy a hug? I’m crying too, Lil. I think if she can find that which will move her out of her comfort zone and into the zone where her presence is felt, I see her at the Top 3.

Adam – Ok. So I’m thinking, this guy could very well be Season 8’s American Idol.

Kris – It’s like this guy comes quietly from behind the pack, decides to put himself out there and took it away! Love his take on the song. And he looks so unassuming! Note to his Wife – you go Girl!

Alrighty then. I think Anoop, Megan and Matt are in trouble.

You?

Tsk. I always ask even though I know by the time some of you folks read this, the results are already out on that part of the world. Tsk.

I used to just throw away newspapers, milk and juice cartons and aluminum tin cans because I felt that as a Family, we were poor at recycling. All the recyclable items we put aside just border on accumulating junk! My Mom, on the other hand, has reminded me repeatedly to save the aluminum tin cans that we every so often acquire in our Breakfast & Dessert Fridge, and give them to her. So she can recycle them and turn them to money. (Of late, she has been harping on us to make a compost pile. There’s no money involved I guess, but um, ok.)

For about a year or so now, I’ve been more conscious about living my life on this planet of ours responsibly. Back when I first heard it, Michael Jasckson’s ‘Earth Song’ was more of a hit song that everyone knew about than a foresight of what could become of the land we’ll leave behind for our Kids and their Kids’ Kids. And then I felt convicted about preserving our environment for future generations that the images from that music video suddenly became a chilling reminder.

Recently, my Husband came on board my sentiments after a Bible Study discussion on the reasons for the longevity of those Biblical heroes who lived to be hundreds of years old. We concluded it was because, among all things divine, everything back then was pure and organic, something our Kids’ Kids’ Kids will no longer have at the rate human beings go on irresponsibly living on this planet.

On a recent roadtrip, my Husband was quick to catch my hand as I was about to throw away a drink can while clearing out the car of the snacks we brought on the trip saying, “It’s aluminium.” Oooh, I like. *wink*

On Saturday, 28th March this year, Malaysia will join the rest of the world to switch off all the lights for one hour, in a cause to address global warming.

In Sabah, power outage is normal. It doesn’t cause any ruckus to business or household operations whatsoever. In fact, rather than wait for the relevant authorities to address the issue responsibly, businesses and households resort to added expenditure on Generator Sets for their offices and homes, just so everyone gets a sense of normalcy. All our complaining fall on deaf SESB ears.

I will switch off my lights for that hour. Or the SESB will. Whichever comes first.

How about you?

Today. We are going tomorrow instead.

Which is all good cos it means we get to catch American Idol!

At this point of the competition I usually feel the crunch and those really outstanding singers will begin to shine. So Ok people, let’s huddle up!

D’you know, if I weren’t Malaysian, I could very well make home in America? What with all them Country Music and Rock n Roll and all. Ha!

Michael - I’m with Simon on this one about the words. I couldn’t hear them. It was fun and upbeat. But country music’s always been about the words. And gotta watch that defense mechanism a bit Bro.

U guys notice the intermittent ‘bubbly’ audio of the show? Must be cos it’s raining. Astro’s uncool that way.

Allison - There’s that unmistakable phenomenal voice again. Always delivers this girl. Country rock. You go Girl!

Kris – Oh, so melodious. Oops on that last note though. Still, he was very brave to let his vulnerability come through. I’m with Simon. (Agn?!) It was a smart choice.

Lil - Gotta give a thumbs up for at least trying something that obviously was not in her element. Good job Lil.

Adam - Ew. I don’t like his version of this song. It’s just theatre. Hubby says there’s a little overconfidence going with Adam in that he’s sure he is in the lead. That being the case he should just go ahead and give country a shot to show some versatility, said Hubby. At least Lil did it.

Scott - That’s the word Scott. Up your game. You can do it.

Alexis - Doesn’t she look a little like Dolly now with that hairstyle?? It was good, but I really think contestants should just suck it in and take the judges words instead of going on the defense about their performance.

Danny - Yes. This is how country music should be sung. Again, with ya all the way Bro!

Anoop - See, this guy took his critique and shot for the sky. Well done Anoop! Tonight was way better than he’s done the past two times. Looks like America will keep him in the running.

Megan - You know I find it funny that this Girl sings with the tone that she does because she doesn’t speak that way. Ohh… flu ka? Bah. Ok lah. America seem to be fond of her ‘quirkiness’ though, and I guess we’ll be seeing more of her a fair bit.

Matt - Beautiful! Hubby says it takes an extremely talented person to be able to sing and play the instrument well, at the same time. Kudos Matt!

See what I mean about feeling the crunch?

I’ve noticed that those who chose Carrie Underwood songs tonight tend to fare well with their performances due to the songs’ contemporary take on the songs’ messages. It’s what today’s country music is all about.

Hmm.

I think that Michael’s performance was the least memorable tonight.

You?

You know, I get the camaraderie that’s an integral part of belonging to a team. I played some Team Sport myself when I was growing up although I never made it to the more glamorous Track & Field events on Sports Day.

What I don’t get with The Boys is how they can have a full day of stress and sweat at work only to come home and stay up to catch the 4am UEFA Champions League, and then get up to send the Kids to school at 6:30am, and then go on to leave for work by 8am. And when they come home again in the evening, if there’s a match, they’ll do it all over again.

Such dedication to a team that is playing thousands of miles away in a different time zone. If only they apply the same dedication to say, helping to bolt the Children’s picture frames to the wall.

But no, mere mundane chores hold no excitement for a man whose blood is Red. In fact, the birth of his second child was somewhat overshadowed by the 22 men running after a ball watched on TV in the maternity ward during the World Cup of 2002. Alas, his Baby is a Girl. Otherwise, he would’ve named the child after one of the 22 men. (The Mommy on the next bed at the maternity ward did!) Such is the plight of a woman married to a Sport.

And yet I find myself joining the Man to catch the graveyard hour match and cheering the 4-nil victory. We even wore matching t-shirts bearing the logo of his our favorite team to an event at Church. Next to the Baby on Board bumper sticker of our car, is the famously known Red & White logo. Yes, such is the plight of a woman married to a Sport.

Would I have preferred it any other way? I guess not. In the meantime, I need to tell the BFF that for us, chilling at her place tonight involves causing ruckus in front of her tv at The Reds vs the Red Devils game. Bring it on!
