Middle Sis forgot her purse at home one day this week, so I got the Hubby to send it over to her at school.

Hubby got there, went to her class, asked permission for her to come out of the class and gave her her purse. Upon leaving, Hubby heard a distant laughter from the kids.

Middle Sis proceeded to report to me when she got home from school that when she had got her purse and returned to her seat, some classmates asked her “who was that?” And she told them he was her Daddy. Her friends laughed out loud.

“Ohh… We thought he was your ‘Gong Gong’!”

That’s Grandfather in Chinese.

Middle Sis then said, “It’s Daddy’s hair bah…”

Hehe…

*UPDATE: In case anyone’s wondering, I DID get Hubby’s permission to post this. ;-)

Powerhouse Rocks!

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

That is, young people lingo for having done a good job. I think. :-P

I must say that the Powerhouse did an excellent job with their stage performance at the Gaya Christmas Celebrations Thursday night. All their hard work and dedication to the project really paid off. Being the final act for the night, they truly gave the evening’s program the high ending it deserves. Well done yo!

Ok. Let’s switch lingo.

We were part of the Family scene in their thirty minutes or so of a variety of performances. (There was drama, dance and multimedia presentations. *Thumbs up!*) We sang the song entitled We Will Serve the Lord, (or Hand in Hand, Heart to Heart) originally brought by Rick & Cathy Riso of Integrity Music. Both Big Sis and Middle Sis had a solo each. The Hubby and I led the rest of the families that were invited to join us on stage through the Chorus of the song.

When we went through the scenes during practises and then the final stage rehearsal, there was some hiccups with our song. Mainly to do with the Hubby’s Guitar accompaniment. He wasn’t happy with the sound of the guitar he used. Especially when combined with the acoustics of the open air stage. After thinking through his musical arrangement, he finally decided not to pluck the strings but to strum through the music. It sure did sound so much better!

And we did a little vocal warm up before coming on stage which we didn’t do during practises.

And the song flowed smoothly together with the rest of the show. Thank God!

There was even a funny moment. Little Sis caught sight of little Aaron out in the crowd and waved to him! And Middle Sis saw uncle Pastor J in front and waved to him too. Hehehe…

In the midst of all the commotion of getting ready for our show, we couldn’t delegate our camera to someone to take photos for us. I was told however that some folks we know did manage to take some snapshots. Here are some that I’ve been able to get my hands on so far.

Big Sis and Middle Sis was also part of the Drama as kids who went shopping with their Moms.

Will need to compile the rest of the photos sometime soon.

It really was a great show. We’re grateful to have been part of such a great team. ;-)

In the meantime, here are some scenes we captured while strolling down the Street last night.

The Nativity scene at Lintasan Deasoka. Last year they had a ‘flying’ angel above it. :-P

YELLOW Santa! He was part of the Digi booth and he had to say ‘ho, ho, ho’ the whole night. Hilarious!

Alas, with an ending of just a pre-recorded ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ song, we thought the Closing was quite the anti-climax. :-P

And The Activities Kick In…

Monday, December 15th, 2008

First off, we had a Christmas event with the residents of Taman Antarabangsa, Likas last night. Graced by the attendance of Likas State Assemblyman, YB Datuk Liew Teck Chan. One of the Ushers told me that there was more than 200 guests that evening, not including Church members. It’s our best turnout yet since we began having community events at this Taman. There was games and stage presentations by children, youth and adults, as well as yummy food. To top it off, the weather was perfect! All in all, everyone had a good time. :-)

The Children sang some Christmas carols.

Here they are at practise…

Resolution = Courage

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines Resolution as the act or process of resolving, of analyzing a complex notion into simpler ones, the act of answering, of solving, an act of determining.

Also, it is synonymous with Courage.

In MY words – making a firm decision doused with great courage to perform it.

Christmas day is coming up soon which usually means the New Year is but a blink of the eye after all the festivities have settled. It is also usually a time of the year to reflect on the year past, and to make plans for the coming year.

How has the year been? What have we learnt this past year? Can we say we are a year wiser? Were we able to come out stronger from the low points of the year? And do we embrace the high points of the year with gratitude? How have I fared with my loved ones? My family? My friends?

Based on “The Greatest Gift,” a short story by Philip Van Doren Stern, a person’s real worth is measured in family, friends and selfless service.

My resolution for the coming year is based on Phillipians 3 v 12 – 14.

I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. (The Message)

I have resolved to drop the baggage that I carried with me for the past year, albeit unknowingly at times, and even some from years before. I resolve to forgive the hurt that I experienced, real or perceived, from the people I care about. And then, like the dropping of an overweight luggage, I’m letting go. I’m going into the New Year, (and into my tenth year of marriage to my Beloved :-) ) packed light, with just the essentials of faith, hope and love.

And I’m not turning back.

Last Day

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Today marks some significant ‘last days’ for me.

It’s Middle Sis’ last day of Kindergarten. When I picked her up from school today, I took some time to bring her round to her class teachers and the school principal to give them a hug. Then we stood at the corridor of her school and said bye-bye to the school She’d been to everyday for two years. When we drove off, she waved at the school.

No more going to school for Big Sis too. School holiday 2008 begins.

Then we got to the daycare to drop off The Starring & Miss A, for the last time. I had the privilege of sending them to daycare after school everyday this year. Our rides have been short but always sweet. Had many after- school conversations together with them and with my Girls. Miss A joined us a little later into the year, so her stories had been few. But in the last two weeks, she’d been eagerly telling me all about her going-ons at school, and often times trying to beat her cousin to it!

I want to take a moment to remember these times with these Little People. I’ll miss them. :-)

I Also Want…

Monday, September 8th, 2008

On Sunday morning, the Little One wakes up and enters our room. Quietly she walks over to Daddy’s side, climbs up the bed, takes Daddy’s face in her hands and kisses Daddy.

Daddy smiles at her.

And then she says to Daddy, “I also want drink milk…”

Interpretation: “Go get my milk Daddy. I already kiss you wat…”

She’s got her Daddy wrapped around her (really) little finger that Girl!

Kungfu Panda

Friday, June 13th, 2008

The lazy and irreverent panda, Po (voiced by Jack Black), must somehow become a kungfu master in order to save the Valley of Peace from a villainous snow leopard, Tai Lung. Set in the legendary world of ancient China, this is the story of Po, our unlikely hero, who enters the rigid world of kungfu and turns it upside down. Po ultimately becomes a hero by learning that if he believes in himself, he can do anything.

Omigosh. We totally enjoyed this show! It’s hilarious!

The Hubby & I were still laughing hard even after the funny scenes were way over. In particular was the scene where *spoiler alert* Master Tigress (Angelina Jolie) was recapping for Po (Jack Black) the history behind Master Shifu’s (Dustin Hoffman) drive to train the next Dragon Warrior and why no one has come close to his training of the original apprentice turned villain Tai Lung. Po was being administered the acupuncture treatment. After all the emotional retelling of a hero turned bad, Po reacted with a distorted face. Tigress was offended and was about to deliver a deathblow at the apparent indifference of Po when Mantis came up from behind and stopped her short, just in time to tell her that the face distortion was a result of him mis-pricking Po! Hilarious!

Have you seen it? Which part did you like? (There were many super funny ones…)

Irony

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

We had two back-to-back wedding invitations this past weekend and so I told Cool Daddy now’s a good time to get that body shaping undergarment to wear under those soft and flowy evening dresses. As always, he graciously agreed and off we went to City Mall to get the item that would be the secret to my looking great at a formal function. When we got there, and what do you know, things were on sale! Yay!

So we got the undergarment that cost me a kidney (discounted nonetheless) and I had visions of me in loveliness at the Receptions.

We got to the events, and of course as can be expected, we mingle, meet friends and chat. And what do you know, a lovely, lovely friend came up to me and whispered, “we were wondering at our table just now, are you pregnant again?”

8O

So I replied, “no.. I’m just.. fat.”

When I related the comment back to Cool Daddy after the event, he ROFL.

Life isn’t fair.
