On Sunday morning, the Little One wakes up and enters our room. Quietly she walks over to Daddy’s side, climbs up the bed, takes Daddy’s face in her hands and kisses Daddy.
Daddy smiles at her.
And then she says to Daddy, “I also want drink milk…”
Interpretation: “Go get my milk Daddy. I already kiss you wat…”
She’s got her Daddy wrapped around her (really) little finger that Girl!
Since the Girls got their first Bible, I made it a point to get them to memorise some Scriptures for themselves. A Pastor friend of mine suggested to begin with the writings of the man recorded as having the closest relationship with the Lord. As a Bonus, they were able to quickly recite some passages to their Sunday School teacher, Uncle Edmund, without being prompted, earning them some ‘points’ that enabled them to ‘redeem’ little gifts from the Gift Shelf.
During one of our conversations while on the ride home from school, I asked if they were ready to memorise one passage that I thought beautifully described the Lord’s relationship with man. Big Sis exclaimed, “again…?? I’m just waiting for you and Daddy to give me my reward for the last verse I memorised…!”
Here’s where I gave a little pep talk about doing it not for the rewards they get out of it, nor for the sake of competing who is best at memorising but rather memorise the passages so the Scriptures become like a guide for their lives.
Big Sis then said, “ohhh… ok Mommy. umm.., anything for exams..?”
