Children & Cellphones

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Time flies! Miss D will be going to Primary One come 2008. I am excited and apprehensive at the same time.

I’ve been told that these days, kids bring cell phones to school. There are rules to abide by however, such as no cell phones while in class or during school hours.
Honestly, I feel there could be a time and need for cell phones outside of school, and while not yet home. And we have a really old, basic Nokia (one that doesn’t say ’steal me!’) that we could give to Miss D to use for emergencies.

School Bus Driver

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Ok, lately, on Mondays & Fridays (cos those are the days the Girls go to daycare after school…), together with my children, I take with me a pair of siblings and another little boy along for the ride to the daycare.
So here I go, with five pre-schoolers all excited to offload the day’s activities to Aunty Didi during the ride, and most of the time trying to outdo one another on the stories-of-the-day level as well as the loudness level.
Occasionally somebody steps or pushes another in order to get their stories heard, which in turn causes the one who was pushed or stepped to scream louder than the one telling the story. Then comes the whodunit lamentations.
Suddenly I have newfound respect for the School Bus Driver!

Jakarta Holidays

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Ok, actually I’m in the middle of scrapbooking the photos. (I know…..!)

But so many of you have asked to see them so many times. ;-p

So here it is then. I’m new at this Slides thing so my captions don’t read as well as I’d like them to. Bear with me on that one ah!

We met up with my Brother and his Family in Jakarta during the recent school holidays, and had a great time! Having ALL the cousins there was chaos, but as always, fun and memorable.

It’s Miss Mel & Spunky’s first trip overseas and second trip to Indonesia for Cool Daddy, Miss D & I. It was a first trip to Jakarta for all of us. Jakarta is a big city with lots to do. We managed about a week of activities. The SeaWorld in Ancol, shopping in ITC Mangga Dua, and even managed a trip to Bandung to shop at the Factory Outlets there and a scenic train ride through mountainous regions and tunnels, back to Jakarta.

Spunky ‘matured’ during this trip, suddenly able to ‘handle’ things ‘independently’, like quickly going to put on her shoes by herself when she sensed everyone getting ready to go. Being all there also gave us the opportunity to celebrate Miss Mel’s 5th Birthday together. That was really special for her. Miss D loved the dolphins most of all. She also loved the time she spent with cousin Ashley.

I can still also hear the way Ashley says “permisi aunty…”. And by the end of our stay there, Colleen had her walking skill down pat! It was so nice to be there to see Colleen take those steps. :-)

Cool Daddy and I appreciate the time together without distraction from the office. ;-p

We’re so thankful to Denny for letting all of us stay in his apartment while in Jakarta. It’s great that we got to chat with him for a bit during the weekend when he wasn’t at work.

Thankful also for Jenny for having us at her house in Bandung. Much appreciated indeed!

We’re hoping Air Asia will fly in to Semarang sometime soon, so we can go visit them there again!

Amos Junior Wong

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Ok, so we got a hamster to replace Amos & Famous, (the hamsters – found missing one day, cage door wide open) and Goldie, Junior and Jerry (the goldfishes – rest in peace…).

And Miss D decided to bestow the family name to the little fella.

Spunky on Chicken

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Eversince Chicken Little aired on Astro last week, we will come home from work everyday with Spunky going straight to the TV, touch the TV screen and go, “Daddy, ’shiken’ Daddy…”

She means ‘chicken’… :-)

That movie has played over and over since thatSpunky  has even memorised the tune ‘We Are The Champions’ ala Chicken Little pat!

Betul bah!

Daddy Says

Monday, July 9th, 2007

I happened to be in the Girls’ Sunday School Class last Sunday, and the Bible Lesson for the day was on The Prodigal Son.

The Sunday School Teacher was trying to explain how much the Father loved his Son like the way our fathers love us; spending time with us, telling us how much he loves us and even buying things.

To which Miss D responded, “But if expensive, my Daddy say don’t buy oh…”

Spunky on Cannot

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Here’s Spunky’s latest ‘thing’.

On top of saying No to everything, she most recently gained the more skilfull CanNOT.

“Mommy, where Bear-Bear? Bear-bear Cannot..”

“Open peese Mommy, Cannot…”

“No Mommy, TV Cannot…”
